Inogen Founders Honored With Prestigious "Venky" Award From the University of California Santa Barbara

GOLETA, Calif., May 14, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Inogen, Inc. (Nasdaq:INGN) along with the Technology Management Program at UC Santa Barbara's College of Engineering today announced that Ali Bauerlein, Brenton Taylor, and Byron Myers will be presented with the prestigious Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award commonly known as "The Venky" at a ceremony this evening. Ali, Brenton, and Byron founded Inogen in 2001 after winning the Technology Management Program's annual business plan competition. Inogen recently completed an initial public offering in February of this year.

The Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award is given annually to an individual or group who has demonstrated leadership and success in the high technology entrepreneurial community in the region.

"The founding team at Inogen have been active leaders in our community and inspirational role models for our students for many years. This award is a timely recognition of their hard work and perseverance, and an especially proud moment for all of us who have followed the evolution of the team and their company," said Professor Bob York, Chairman of the Technology Management Program.

The Venky Narayanamurti Entrepreneurial Leadership Award is made possible through a generous endowment to the College of Engineering's Technology Management Program. The endowment honors Professor Venkatesh 'Venky' Narayanamurti, whose tenure (1992-1998) as Dean of the College of Engineering at UCSB was distinguished for its leadership and support for the development of a thriving local entrepreneurial economy, and dedication to the infusion of entrepreneurial spirit into all aspects of the College of Engineering.
